The Scope of the Project is enormous ...

Services

Aspire Defence is now managing the existing Army estate within the Garrisons and will deliver a multi-million £ package of essential support services over a 35 year period.

Accommodation

Aspire Defence will be building and modernising single living accommodation, providing new z-standard rooms that offer spacious bedrooms with en-suite facilities.

The accommodation blocks will also include shared kitchens, lounge, bathroom and storage areas.

The first accommodation block to be built
by Aspire Defence Ltd was
a demonstration unit at Perham Down.

The rooms arrived as specially prefabricated units ...

... which were then enclosed by brickwork.

The building was completed at the end of 2004 and
36 soldiers moved in to it in January 2005.

The building was officially opened by the
Under Secretary of State for Defence

Other Buildings

As well as the single soldier accommodation, the building works that form a major part of Project Allenby/Connaught will include junior ranks' dining rooms and mess complexes.  It is envisaged that the building phase of the project will take approximately 8 years.

The Future ...

Leisure & Shopping Facilities

Aspire Defence Ltd recognises the role of strong communities and family life.  They will therefore be working with the Army and local community groups to develop and enhance the leisure and shopping facilities that exist for families around the garrisons.

It is hoped that some of the new leisure facilities may be able to be used by all members of the community, as they are at the Tidworth Leisure Centre.

New Community Centre for Larkhill

One of the first new build projects in the Larkhill area will be a community project.  A new, modern community centre will be built.  The building, in the heart of the garrison community, will provide a focal point for children, mums and whole families.

Job Opportunities ...

Each Garrison will have its own dedicated support team.  They will provide a wide range of services including grounds maintenance, catering and retail.

Each team will be led by a Garrison Director.

Aspire Defence Ltd will become a major employer across Salisbury Plain and Aldershot.

News from the Aspire team in  TNB Garrison ...

TNB Garrison Facilities Director
James Thoden van Velzen

" Over the next 35 years Project Allenby/Connaught will change the lives of many of us who live and work in the areas around Tidworth and Bulford Garrisons.
" In the early years, Aspire Defence will transform the Garrison by improving daily services, as well as beginning a significant construction phase.  Tidworth, Bulford and Perham Down will benefit from intensive building and refurbishment programmes that will provide soldiers, SNCOs and Officers with modern, comfortable living accommodation and leisure facilities.
" The completed demonstrator unit at Perham Down. occupied by 36 soldiers from 22 Engineer Regiment,  is an example of the type accommodation that will be built for single soldiers over the next few years.
" The project will also reach out into the local communities; the new Garrison Theatre in Tidworth is one of the new facilities planned for the area. It will be built on the site currently occupied by the old dental and medical centres when they are demolished in two years’ time.
" But, our work will begin before that, with priority being placed on single soldiers' accommodation, followed by the construction of new dining facilities and ultimately the refurbishment of over 70% of the buildings.
" Providing good quality and reliable services to soldiers and the Army is the focus of my Garrison Facilities Management Team across the Garrison. We will eventually be based at The Old Stables in Tidworth, at the operational heart of the Garrison, where we will be accessible to our customers and in touch with the needs of the Army. "
